Don’t complain about the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t put in.

When we make mistakes, we call them accidents. When others make mistakes, we call them choices.

Perspective shifts everything. Let’s lead with empathy.

Things that don’t require talent:

✅ Good attitude
✅ Effort
✅ Kindness

But show these things in each aspect of your life and watch what it brings you.

What if we reimagined how we work with struggling kids by starting with what they know versus focusing on what they don’t? So often in remediation and tutoring groups we’re aiming to fill in deficit gaps instead of building off of existing knowledge.

I think one of the most powerful things we can ask ourselves as educators is “How do we know what we know?” Multiples sources of data helps validate and support our assumed knowledge.

AI did not create cheaters. Academic dishonesty has been going on for centuries, AI is just the newest way for them to do it.

How are we providing these opportunities for students?

I believe student leadership can be broken down into three important tenants:

1️⃣ Trust
2️⃣ Opportunity
3️⃣ Training

When we as adults can offer kids these three things, we open doors for inspiring, empowering, and growing young leaders.

Imagine being so feckless that you’ll capitulate in advance to a bullying autocrat and take down your half-hearted, bare-minimum performative messaging against racism.

K-12 educators out there, how are you currently using AI in your classroom to enhance student learning? Working on something with a colleague, so your answers are appreciated.

Teachers, we have the most magical powers. We can quiet down an entire room with just a few claps and strike fear with a simple look, never saying a word. Make a C feel like the greatest grade in the world and an A- feel like you could have done better.

Had our first outdoor soccer practice tonight for the spring season. Spring consisted of 28° and ice on the turf. The adults froze, the kids would have stayed out there for another two hours. I miss being a kid.

It's an essential public service.

I never thought I'd be able to say I was a published #author, much less someone who has had 6 books published.

Each book holds a place dear in my heart as I poured all of me into them. I hope they bring something special to you too!

I'd be honored if you checked one of them out today!

As students and staff return to school this week, be mindful of the class conversations. Talking about “what they got for Christmas” can be uncomfortable for some.
