What do you mean by rich? The apostles, the ones who saw him alive, were not men of power. I guess Paul was once Saul, but he also wasn't an apostle while Jesus was alive, so its hard to say Jesus hung with that dude.

We can discount the miracles easily, that doesnt mean we cant understand the core messages, disjointed and contradictory as an amalgamation of early cult texts can get. Mathew 21:13 and the associated quotes from other gospels are pretty clear without thinking about the eye of a needle.
