I suppose I'd better show what I'm about to anyone that finds me around these parts: tiny historic, prehistoric and paleontological creations (and some bigger pieces every now and then)

A large ceramic sculpture of a Carnotaur (think T-Rex but has horns coming out of their head over their eyes) done with black underglaze. This piece features sgraffito markings and my signature California Poppies crawling up it's sides and back. Also noting that the dinosaur looks rather happy. A photo of the back of the piece to show more of the Poppies curving up and around the back. The flower and it's stem have been coloured in using orange and green underglazes.

THE TOWER OF CIRITH UNGOL

Ammonites have always been meant as a personal form of “memento mori” symbols in my art. They are cautionary reminders of our impermanence. 1/3

STORMBRINGER (1977)

I remember trying to get in the mood of painting for the last time the albino sorcerer king, Elric. I took a clothes rail out of a closet for my sword and ran around outside slashing at weeds and lunging at the breeze. 1/5
Standing atop ruins at the end of the world, an anguished Elric thrusts the runeblade Stormbringer to the heavens. The sky behind him roils with clouds rendered in acidic green. The chainmail on his right arm is torn. He wears a yellow tunic and belts strapped across his waist and chest crusted with jewels. His purple and black cloak billows in the wind. From a leather cord, he holds an ivory horn with ornate swirls of gold. The ruins he stands upon are crumbling, including the face of a skull that is missing a chunk of forehead and part of the orbital. The mouth isn't human given the fangs in its mouth and the horns protruding off the side of the head that is intact. Off to the side, a pterosaur-like creature perches with wings spread.

Here’s an ancient amber bear carved about 10,000 years ago!

This magical find washed up on a beach at Fanø in Denmark from a submerged Mesolithic settlement under the North Sea.

My photo shows a small figurine of an amber bear carved some 10,000 years ago during the Mesolithic period. The bear is seen in profile facing right. The legs are incomplete. The ears, muzzle and mouth are defined. The figurine is displayed on a small metal stand. The display lighting shining on the bear’s head and neck enhances the translucence of the orange coloured amber.

I took the opportunity with this commission—an album cover for Sepultura—to experiment and have fun.

After completing a small stack of tone renderings of textures and distorted faces, I photocopied them, cut them out, and recombined them. 1/3
A pair of spiky lobster-like claws pull a strand through a human brain. Suspended above, the abstract shape of a body hangs upside down, wavy and transparent. Inside appears to be human faces screaming in horror intermixed with internal organs (intestines and spine). The structure the claws protrude from is an amalgam of body parts, human and otherwise, including a pair of mismatched blue eyes, a deformed mouth full of uneven teeth. A path atop a winding stone wall leads up to the grotesque monument from the green, grass-like-yet-alien vegetation in the foreground. Behind the structure murky water gently ripples.
