We continue with @joanma747.bsky.social (@creaf.cat and AD4GD). He broke the ice with a tought question: What REALLY defines the Green Deal Data Space? Here some misconceptions: it is not a data storage facility, it is not already deployed and it is not a way to forget about metadata and standards.

Let's go! Slides ready, speakers prepared and audience engaged. Our final event in #Vienna has just started! We are sharing 3 years of experience developing the Green Deal Data Space with the EuroGEO Action Group.

Katharina Schleidt (DataCove, FAIRiCUBE) welcomed the participants and intr

How is #EGU25 going? Our plans for #EGUToday start at Hall X4. We are displaying a poster on "Multi-faceted habitat connectivity: how to orchestrate remote sensing with citizen science data?"

From 10:45 to 12:30, we will be next to our poster ready for your questions. Find us!

🌞 Good morning Warsaw!!!! Meet us at the #DataSpaces Symposium 2025 to talk about how we are enriching the Green Deal Data Space with open and commercial #geospatial data. 🌎🌐

Together with our sister projects of the EuroGEO Action Group.

Can we monitor #biodiversity from space? YES. Last week, @creaf.cat researcher Ivette Serral attended the #Biospace25 conference at @esa.int. She showcased how a European Green Deal Data Space could enhace terrestrial habitat connectivity analysis using #EarthObservation, in-situ & #IoT data.

These are the 11 steps of the Life Cycle of Scientific #Data. Each one proposes specific challenges that the Common European #DataSpaces should take into account for each particular type of data. Which stage do you consider most critical?

If the light from the Sun to the Earth takes 8 minutes and 13 seconds, how much time do I need to communicate how the Green Deal Data Space should look like? Unfortunately the light will bounce more than once between Sun and Earth. :-(

#Christmas recitals celebrate songs from diverse cultures, and all of them enrich the concert! What if we did the same with #data? Sensors, citizen science, in-situ, and satellite data can ‘sing’ together in unison. Join the show at #EGU25. ⬇️✍️

🌍📊The #EUDataStrategy is paving the way for a Common European #DataSpace. However, satellite-derived products still fall short in adopting the #FAIR principles—crucial for unlocking the full potential of Data Spaces! And we want to tackle it. 👇

In AD4GD we are exploring solutions based on the value of #data!

👉 Our water pilot case aims to develop water quality indexes combining measurements via water samples, IoT sensors, #EarthObservation and citizen science programs using AI-based and #FAIR approaches.

🚨But why should we worry? These valuable ecosystems are facing many risks derived from rapid urban densification and longer #drought periods resulting from climate change. And each lake has its own idiosyncrasies.

Monitorization, then, is key for decision making. 🗝️

Despite this, #UrbanLakes (of any size) are crucial #ClimaticRefuges in cities, highly popular leisure areas and provide many health benefits for citizens.

Not only that, they function as biodiversity hotspots for many water and terrestrial species.

The regulation governing lake monitoring is the #European Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) in force since 2000. But it's in 2014 when an annex was introduced that typifies the size of the water bodies regulated by the law.

Lakes smaller than 50 hectares are left out. 🚫

🤔What do these three lakes have in common? Surprisingly enough, although they are recreational and biodiversity hotspots in the city, none of them are monitored for #WaterQuality. 🙀 Why is this and how can data solve it? 👇💧
