Hills, mountains, outdoor stuff, bikes and cycling, books, general carping and trivia. I do not have a cat.
Location: off on a tangent.
Here's an idea. Pain au chocolat but with THREE strips of chocolate not two.

If I was the solicitor of anyone in prison (I'm not), I'd be advising them to apply for accidental release.

Farewell to the brilliant Tom Stoppard, who constantly reminded us of the sheer joy to be found in language and in life. He always seemed to relish his art, which is part of what makes it wonderful.

I assume the Party With No Name Party launch conference room in Liverpool is now empty as everyone's walked out in their own personal protest about something. Is the empty room being streamed live?

When my cunning plan for world domination comes good the next things I'm going to do after seizing the assets of all billionaires is to decree that baked bean tins should be stackable LIKE EVERY OTHER F*KING TIN and to ban those EXTREMELY ANNOYING little plastic labels on individual pieces of fruit.

Every medical professional should read this! It's quite long but worth it - right to the end.
This is heart breaking of course, but also really important and insightful about the arrogance of the medical system despite its clear limitations in dealing with uncertainty and complexity. lucyfoulkes3.medium.com/welcome-to-m...
Welcome to my body
After twenty years of pain and repeated medical dead ends, a stranger sent me a message on Instagram. It led to a diagnosis all the doctors…

No, I definitely didn't forget I'd already opened that pack of blueberries from the supermarket.

And even if I did I certainly didn't spill a large number of blueberries around the inside of the fridge.

I know Gove's fortunes have come and gone as he's taken on the various roles he's performed, and perhaps there's been a tendency to overrate his intelligence, but I've always thought he's a dangerous snake in British public life.
"It’s curious that the Orwell Prize – Britain’s most celebrated award for public interest journalism – has turned to a man who’s spent much of his career trying to stifle it.”

I'm thinking of starting a crowdfunder to raise the cash for someone to follow #Farage everywhere he goes with a loudspeaker playing "Bless 'em All". The Vera Lynn version works better than George Formby, I think.

So when I say you're a racist piece of pig-shit whose mother was f*cked by a frog, Nige, it's just banter, right? #Farage

Browsing tonight's TV schedules with the sound off it struck me how similar those antiques shows are to the shopping channels. In the bit I saw a man was earnestly looking and speaking directly to camera while gently caressing a tin jelly mould.

Is there such a thing as mulled gin & tonic? Asking for a friend.

I hate to throw food away, but these tomatoes I bought from one of the smaller national supermarkets taste of nothing. The closest I can get is that it's like eating cardboard with thin plastic film on one side after it's been held under the tap for a minute or two.

When people list all the things that were bad in the 1970s they never seem to include avocado bathroom suites. How quickly we forget!

While I was in M&S today I thought I might buy a new jumper, but apart from the reindeer-and-snowflakes options this season's offering was either 'twilight drab' or 'cosplay a lumberjack'. I guess I'm just not their demographic for men's knitwear.

Just pre-ordered @hutchinsondave.bsky.social's new book "Essence". The new clunky PayPal desktop interface has assigned it to a previous address and doesn't show me any way to change it despite my new address clearly showing as my default. Publisher emailed. General enshittification continues.
