Refugees are particularly vulnerable to the Hane's landlord's discriminatory behaviour. We are all united in our struggle against greedy landlords 🌍✊

We were proud to be joined by @haringeywelcome.bsky.social, a local migrant advocacy group. When an asylum seeker is granted refugee status, they are swiftly evicted from their temporary hotel, and most will not have the right to work yet and so rely on benefits.

We went down, hoping to talk with someone from Hane. They took one look at us, closed up shop, and ran off.
It can feel like landlords have all the power in our broken housing market, but when we organise together, we show them who's boss.
See you again soon Hane! 😘⌛

According to Crisis, 25% of trans people have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. We constantly see the many types of discrimination faced by our members at the hands of landlords and those in power. Housing justice and trans rights are twin struggles we must fight for together✊🏳️‍⚧️🚩

They claim they are doing this to reduce spending - saving £5billion - and to ‘help’ people back into work. But at the same time, £14billion of public money goes straight to the pockets of private landlords via housing benefit every year, due to sky high rents and a lack of social homes.

🏆 Last time we handed out a gold award and setting up meetings for 2 more.

✊ This means these letting agents have agreed to no revenge evictions, no rent hikes above inflation, and dropping dodgy landlords!
