We don't have to agree with an organization's mission to defend their First Amendment rights.

Today’s announcement marks 283 people granted clemency under Governor Murphy – more than previous governors have granted in the past thirty years combined.
We’re grateful for Governor Murphy’s commitment to decarceration and hope he continues to grant clemency until the end of his term.

We look forward to working with Governor Murphy and Governor-elect Sherrill to make New Jersey a more just state.
But there is still more work to be done. New Jersey has a responsibility to continue focusing on the harms perpetuated by the criminal legal system and prioritizing prison population reduction.

We applaud Governor Murphy for embracing categorical clemency at this scale. Thanks to his leadership, more New Jerseyans than ever before are eligible for expedited review of clemency petitions requesting commutations and pardons.
