It's #BCBooksDay! Access Copyright is pleased to represent 115+ publishers & 2,700 creators who call British Columbia home. In 2023, we distributed $625K in royalties to BC rights holders, which were invested into the local economy and helped bring more BC publications to life.

We call on all parties and candidates to commit to the following:

1. Repair Canada’s Copyright Act by clarifying existing fair dealing exceptions, including for education, so that Canadian creators and publishers are fairly compensated for the use of their published works.

This year's Payback claim period starts April 1 and ends on May 31.

Eligible affiliates will be notified by email once the portal is open to receive claims.

Only those who have never made a claim or have 2023 works to report will likely need to take action this claim period.

We were thrilled to see Ayelet Tsabari's 'Songs for the Brokenhearted' selected as one of the Globe and Mail's 100 best books of 2024, and that Access Copyright Foundation was able to support her research into the history of Yemenite women’s songs for the book. Congrats Ayelet!
