Not the best birder. Definitely not the best photographer. Usually in Central Park, but will travel for Timberdoodles! If you follow and repost a photo, I'll see you and follow back.
I couldn't resist--this squirrel was so cute! Spotted having a bite in Central Park on this gray morning. 😍😍😍 #Squirrel #CentralPark

Clear, cold, and blustery early today in Central Park (about 12°!). That didn't stop this Red-tailed Hawk from keeping an eye on the compost heap! 😎😎😎 #Hawks #CentralPark #birding

One amazing aspect of birding in Central Park is how close you can get to many birds. This Red-tailed Hawk was hunting so close to me, I could barely get it in frame! 🥰🥰🥰 #hawks #CentralPark #birding

I was thrilled to see a magnificent Great Blue Heron on the Harlem Meer this morning. What do you think of this gray on gray capture? 🩶🖤🩶 #Herons #CentralPark #birding

Northern Shovelers have arrived in Central Park. Their huge spoon-shaped bill always makes me laugh--but it's very effective for filtering tiny crustaceans out of the water. Just look at the size of that thing! 😍😍😍 #Shoveler #CentralPark #birding

I spotted a pair of Red-tailed Hawks in Central Park this morning and had a great time watching this one hunt a black squirrel. The squirrel was completely unperturbed and even appeared to be taunting the hawk at times! 😂😂😂 #Hawks #CentralPark #birding

Returned to my beloved Central Park this morning, and was warmly greeted by a stunning Northern Cardinal! I so appreciate some of these beautiful birds staying with us through the winter! ❄️❄️❄️ #Cardinal #CentralPark #birding

Close-up of a Stonechat snagging breakfast along England’s south coast. I’ve rarely captured a bird in flight where you can see the insect that it’s pursuing! 🥰🥰🥰 #stonechat #birding #birdsseenin2025

Took a beautiful walk along England's south coast near Sidmouth today. One highlight was capturing a #lifer European Stonechat as it snagged a bug. Stonechats are named for their calls, which sound like two stones being banged together! 😍😍😍 #Stonechat #England #Birdsseenin2025

A Great Tit arching its back in pursuit of another insect in London's Hyde Park. All tits are cavity nesters and females lay around a dozen eggs--which she raises alone! ❤️💙❤️ #HydePark #London #Birding

In London for Thanksgiving and spotted a #lifer Common Pochard in Hyde Park. This is a vulnerable species that is rarely seen during nesting season. What a beauty! ❤️❤️❤️ #Pochard #HydePark #Birdsseenin2025

Loved having this Barred Owl spend a few days in Central Park. We hoped it might stay longer, but it chose to move on. Farewell, friend! 🦉🦉🦉#Owls #centralpark #birding

I had a fun time following this young Red-tailed Hawk as it was hunting in Central Park. Here it was hiding in an oak tree. #hawks #centralpark #birding

I don't feature House Finches often, but I really loved this photo I took in Central Park's Conservatory Garden! Hope you do too. ❤️❤️❤️ #Finch #CentralPark #birding

It's always a celebration when all the ducks pass through Central Park during migration. One of my favorites is the Bufflehead--don't you love the name? And when the sun hits the male's feathers just right, the iridescence is ridiculous! 💙💚💜 #Bufflehead #CentralPark #birding

🎉🎉🎉 Woohoo! I'm not much of a sparrow guy, but I do love Fox Sparrows! And I happened upon one this morning foraging near Central Park's Green Bench. Look how beautiful it is! ❤️🧡🤎 #Sparrows #CentralPark #birding

A rainy, wet morning in NYC, but that didn't stop visitors from checking out the locally-grown produce. Here, a Robin samples this year's crop of Hawthorn berries! 🍒🍒🍒 #Robin #CentralPark #birding

Two years ago today was the last time I photographed Flaco in Central Park. He would leave the park a day later and spend the next few months hunting pigeons on the Upper West Side. His incredible story is one I'll never forget. #Flaco #CentralPark #birdcpp

Female Northern Cardinals are among my favorite subjects--but I just haven't been getting good looks at them. This morning, I spotted this beauty in Central Park's Conservatory Garden. Isn't she gorgeous? ❤️🤎❤️ #Cardinals #CentralPark #birding

I was very happy to see a lovely Wood Duck couple noodling around on Central Park's Harlem Meer this morning. The Wood Duck is the only North American duck that regularly produces two broods per year. Good luck with that, guys! 💚💙🧡 #ducks #CentralPark #birding

I spotted a Great Blue Heron circling Central Park's Harlem Meer early this morning. In this silhouette, you can just see the morning sunshine illuminating its face! 🥰🥰🥰 #Herons #CentralPark #birding

Man, I love when migrating ducks arrive in Central Park! I spotted this stunning Hooded Merganser lazily floating toward me on the Harlem Meer early this morning. Just incredible! ❤️🧡🖤 #Ducks #CentralPark #birding

A very handsome Blue Jay wanted to make sure I didn't see where it was going to hide this acorn! It buries acorns individually and consumes them over the winter. This helps propagate oak trees, too! 💙🖤💙 #Bluejay #CentralPark #birding

One evening, I returned to Central Park to observe our Barred Owl. It was quite active and, at one point, flew out of the Loch and across the roadway. It returned almost immediately with a Robin, which it promptly devoured! 😲😲😲 #Owls #CentralPark #birding
