This was my most recent post— 1 month ago. As an immigration lawyer, I have been putting out as many fires as I can, and it’s exhausting. Fast forward to this weekend: Trump defied a federal judge’s order and deported hundreds of Venezuelans. Outrageous & posts won’t fix this Constitutional crisis.
Not to be completely alarmist, but the speed at which our democracy is being dismantled is breathtaking.

So, it looks like migrants are being flown to Guantanamo Bay. This is really quite insane.

Why is the Trump Administration targeting intersex people? This feels very Nuremberg...

Republicans are liars.

Trump swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Day 1: He issued an EO to end birthright citizenship, which violates the 14th Amendment, and is unconstitutional.

Republicans support the EO.

Well, as expected, the 5th Circuit has affirmed the lower court’s decision that DACA is illegal. However, they limited the scope of the injunction to Texas. And then they stayed that decision and remanded. Litigation continues.

TLDR: Nothing has changed for DACA now, but it might. RENEW ASAP.

“Fewer than 1 million of the 3.6 million people now in active removal proceedings are represented by counsel, and there is one simple way that we can all help them: Fund their lawyers.“

Joe Biden, who Republicans like to claim has an "open borders" policy, deported more than 271,000 people through the end of September, a 10-year high that beat Trump’s high of 267,000 in 2019.

Trump voters did not vote for tighter border control, they voted for cruelty.

Irony:
Hearing Trump refer to immigrants as criminals.

The key takeaway here for me is that the wealthy elite see no value in an educated society, as evidenced by the proposed elimination of Pell Grants and Head Start. They see no value in ensuring that poor kids have equal access to education. Poor adults build wealth for the wealthy.
Musk and Ramaswamy have already identified $516B dollars in government savings — it includes cutting all of Veteran’s Affairs health care, eliminating the NIH, and ending funding for federal prisons. @morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social

Gotta admit, it’s kind of delightful, knowing they’d do exactly the same thing.
The complete meltdown from the crowd who voted for the convicted felon and adjudicated rapist over Hunter Biden's pardon has filled me with immeasurable joy this holiday season and I'd like to thank Joe Biden for that.

So glad I left Xitter. All the vitriol and RWBS was exhausting. Happy for the fresh start over here!

DACA is still in peril. I have no doubt Trump will do all he can to end the program.

True— the first rule of applying for asylum is that you must be present in the US. You don’t have to ask at the POE. You can, but that doesn’t constitute an application for asylum, and failing to do so doesn’t preclude your application.
Tom Homan once told @aoc.bsky.social during a hearing that to claim asylum, migrants must do so at a port of entry. They don't. He lied and he knows he lied. He said it to convince the public that his version is the rule. That was intentional and now most believe it to be true. It isn't.

Did the folks who voted for Trump underestimate him, or is that what they wanted?

11/26, Trump announced a plan to impose a 25% tariff on all goods coming into the US from Mexico until “Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!"

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum clapped back masterfully. 1/

Oh. Trans folks are not “equal”?

Republicans: There is no quiet part anymore.
Nancy Mace: "It is offensive that a man in a skirt thinks that he's my equal. He's forcing his genitals into women's restrooms."
