Feuerzangenbowle! We had to cancel our family New Years' Eve tradition because of a critically ill cat, but since 2025 desperately needed a reboot, we did it tonight. A traditional German holiday drink with a rum-soaked sugar loaf set on fire over mulled wine.

What an amazing opening. I read it, stared at it, studied it, read it again. And then I gobbled down the rest The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Perry. What a treat! Definitely among the best of the year, probably an all-time personal favorite. Wonderful academic historical fantasy.
