From Jane Austen's prayer of Thanksgiving. "Give us a thankful sense of the blessings in which we live, of the many comforts of our lot; that we may not deserve to lose them by discontent or indifference." Here on unceded Wampanoag land, Thanksgiving has many meanings. #DayofMourning #Austenesque

Forgive the self-promo! My cozy holiday novella, which I scribbled when the world was too dark to focus on my fantasy series, is out today. So unlike anything I've written in the last decade, but just what I needed now. www.amazon.com/dp/B0FXJDB1Y1 #JAFF #PrideandPrejudice #JaneAusten

Interesting piece of trivia for writers of #Regency or #JAFF - "Etiquette decreed that gloves were one of the few gifts which a gentleman could with propriety present to a lady who was not his wife." Plot bunny, anyone? #downtherabbithole collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O120114...

An amazing sunset over Buzzards Bay. Completely unenhanced. Pure glory of nature.

Sweating from the heat, or just in a continual state of inelegance? Thinking of all those dealing with heat in Europe and the UK. "What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance." - Jane Austen #heatwave #Austenesque

My Austenesque gaslamp fantasy trilogy, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Mage, has decided to grow up to be a tetralogy. Which is a bit of a surprise to me, but the author's always the last to know! News ad an outtake at www.pemberleyvariations.com/2025/06/02/n.... #JAFF #gaslamp #historicalfantasy

It's emergence day for the Brood XIV cicadas on Cape Cod! A little late because of the cold spring, but still amazing. #bugsky #invertebrate #falmouth #capecod

TFW your books finally reach the end of their KU term and you can make them wide and break the amaz*n straitjacket! I hate everything that's happening, but I'm so glad people are now willing to buy books elsewhere.

Feuerzangenbowle! We had to cancel our family New Years' Eve tradition because of a critically ill cat, but since 2025 desperately needed a reboot, we did it tonight. A traditional German holiday drink with a rum-soaked sugar loaf set on fire over mulled wine.

TFW when someone gives you a tea you know you won't like, but you drink it to be polite and end up LOVING it and drinking it every day and now you need to order more.... Gingerbread House from @fridaytea.com. Scrumptious.

What an amazing opening. I read it, stared at it, studied it, read it again. And then I gobbled down the rest The Scholar and the Last Faerie Door by H.G. Perry. What a treat! Definitely among the best of the year, probably an all-time personal favorite. Wonderful academic historical fantasy.

Happy 249th Birthday to Jane Austen! Next year's a big birthday, Miss Austen, but don't let it trouble you - you've aged beautifully! Image of Jane Austen from the freehand embroidery of my multi-talented German translator, Nicola Geiger.

And here's proof that I'm a fan - and that it's a very, very small world, since I gather you've already know my daughter @keahirada.bsky.social. Author, daughter, books, and an ear cuff you'll recognize! My earrings are from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social, too.

I'm writing a scene that takes place in the Crimson Drawing Room of Carlton House, the over-the-top, opulent mansion of the Prince Regent. Income inequality at its finest! Lady Catherine de Bourgh feels quite at home. #JAFF #amwriting #regency

Never enough tea! My daughter and I made our own tea advent calendar this year using sample bags from Teabos, heavy on single-origin Darjeeling. Today's was a fruity Jungpana Spring Chinary Black. Light and appealing! It's going to be a tasty month.
