Came across this on Instagram, a Church in New York commissioned a Trans Requiem and it's beautiful.

It's also possible that the DUP want to remove the UK from the ECHR to reverse the very reason why the Good Friday Agreement requires ECHR participation in the first place - because the European Court of Human Rights had found the UK govt accountable for human rights breaches in Northern Ireland
As with Ballymena, what's useful about the DUP's acquiescence to far right fearmongering about migrants is that it's so very clearly just about the racism.

Net migration to NI *for the past 22 years* amounts to less than 62,000 people. That's less than 3k a year, in a state of 1.9 million people.

4chan & Kiwi Farms are suing OFCOM. Put your feelings aside on both sites for a second. Trust me, you want OFCOM to lose on this one. If not, it would allow for significant overreach of the OSA into the U.S.

I do wish people would treat transphobia as the serious red flag it is, because if someone is repeating bullshit pseudoscience talking points from right wing cranks, that's just as bad as conceding to anti-vax nonsense and undermining trust in science and medicine, alarm bells should be sounding!

AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.

10 mbliana ó shin, cuireadh orm thairiscintí chun staidéar a dhéanamh ar an dlí i Sasana a dhiúltú, agus ansin thosaigh mé mar mhac léinn leighis i gColáiste na Tríonóide.

Bhíos i m'aonair i dtír nua, agus is cinnte gur níl aon chumas ar an Ghaeilge atá agam ach an oiread.

The Prime Minister's X feed currently looks like an advertising platform for Reform's messaging. Distinctly aggressive dog whistles with highly racialised imagery designed to dehumanise and demonise people, and ignores protections guaranteed under international law into the bargain.

“TBD Lab” is a great name for the general business model of “we don’t have a practical application yet but we DO have a powerful hype narrative that got us a shitload of VC funding”
Restructuring inside Meta divides AI efforts into four teams: one working on superintelligence, called TBD Lab, that houses many of the new hires; a second working on AI products; a third working on infrastructure; and a fourth dedicated to projects with a longer time horizon and more exploration.

Want to know what Age Verification will be like if and when the CnaM in Ireland ever start enforcing their Online Safety Code?

Let’s check in on how it’s working in Britain.
Teens are locked out of parts of the Internet by the age gate that the Online Safety Act has imposed 🚧

Don't believe the hype: it goes way beyond the headlines of porn.

From health advice to memes, content is being over-moderated.

ORG's @sarachitseko.bsky.social and James Baker explain it all ⬇️

MIT’s NANDA initiative found that 95% of generative AI deployments fail after interviewing 150 execs, surveying 350 workers, and analyzing 300 projects. The real “productivity gains” seem to come from layoffs and squeezing more work from fewer people not AI.
MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing
There’s a stark difference in success rates between companies that purchase AI tools from vendors and those that build them internally.

John Boyne is a unique talent, I'll give him that.

He's a man who managed to be quite adept at nonsensically plagiarising without content-checking on his own, *well before* the advent of LLMs/'AI'.

But I'm practically based in Cork this Summer/early Autumn, so it would be lovely to catch up with people again, now enforced degree hibernation has ended!

"Smart" people constantly assert that AI is the future and completely unstoppable. But this is the reality.

I have noticed that much like MLMs, cocaine and Scientology... the people who are pushing AI the hardest are so incredibly skeevy that I'm automatically not interested in what they offer.
