Mom - free software geek - Critter - conlanger
This is amazingly useful, any objection if we copy the format?

Poetry that rhymes and has absolutely no attempt to scan. A staple of local newspapers' community contributions in the 20th century.

What 6-8 months thing?

You can also try #neography, but I find a lot more neographies on, for example, Tumblr than I do on Bluesky.

Potential noun classes there?

I had already quit using it but I imagine deleting the app is worth it if that will show up in their metrics somewhere.

I've been thinking that I need to create Merechi artifacts to give away at LCC... and some to send to conlangers that can't make it as well of course!

Interestingly we also say "do a shot" of alcohol

I'm often curious about the pronunciations on these. Do you really feel that if English had a word "micker", it would rhyme with "meeker" and not "wicker"?

It's a little unclear whether the images of scripts were meant to illustrate the issues you went over, or were examples of what "good enough for review" would look like.

When I was last at the store there were barely any in stock, a meter x a meter or two of bare refrigerated shelf. That's not something I ever saw in the past.

Ah, thanks!

Why does the abstract for the article list an 8th clause type, "hyparctic", which is never referenced again in the paper?

The similarity is in the slidy, numb feeling that licorice, fennel, anise and celery all produce on the tongue. Do you experience that numbing from all or any of those?
January 28, 2025 at 4:21 PM
You left off "fennel, but fainter", which is the correct answer! It's in the same taste family as fennel, licorice and anise, but far weaker than the others. It's lovely but better as grated up celery root used as a spice, because the texture of the stalks sucks.

It will be spoken slower and more carefully, might avoid direct 2nd person references especially directed upward, and if there's old history of living near a more dominant culture, might have a number of old loanwords particularly re: government/religion
January 25, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Have you had anything made with celery root? The taste is concentrated in the root, you might be able to experience it that way.

I can remember when this sentence first became a translation challenge on the Conlang-L list.

Honestly it's very nostalgic to be gathering the crumbs of an abugida I can't get instant documentation on, and hoarding them like a mouse. I spent the entire 80s doing just that in every library reference section.

Is there anywhere we can read more about Vorgath and the writing system?
January 1, 2025 at 4:47 PM
I almost feel like I'm getting the hang of this writing system
