"This conversation reinforced for me that patient, respectful engagement with good faith questions (yes, even skeptical ones) is essential. We won't reach everyone, but we might reach someone. And in public health, reaching someone can make all the difference."

I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administration’s racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.

That's it. Not "the CDC is important". But rather -- the CDC is fucking OURS. We own it. We built it. We turned it into a powerhouse. You don't get to take it or blow it up because it gets in your way of making a buck. It's ours.

The #measles vaccine has saved an estimated 5 lives every second since 2000.

👉Prevent measles by getting vaccinated with two doses of the measles vaccine.

If you have been exposed to #measles you can get post-exposure vaccination. Ideally within 72 hours of the exposure. This can help reduce the severity of illness and could even prevent you from developing symptoms at all.
Given exposures in gyms and at airports consider this a free tip.

Hello! I work in clinical microbiology, I paint in my living room, and I garden in my backyard. I'm a New Englander to the core - maple sugaring every spring and occasionally using "wicked" as an adverb.

Big fan of science, nature, learning, and being useful.
