all these people protesting today in groups of a few dozen on the main streets of small towns in deep red Trump country - where they will absolutely take shit from their neighbors about it at church tomorrow or at work on Monday or next time they go to the grocery store - are braver than the Marines

The government said they aren’t releasing SNAP benefits in November — but ALDI is helping families out. Their Thanksgiving meal bundle feeds 10 people for just $40! 🦃 Available now through Christmas Eve, it includes 21 items (like a 14-lb turkey + sides). Share this with everyone!

Important to keep remembering and repeating that Kimmel didn't mock Charlie Kirk or celebrate his death in the monologue. He mocked the president's lack of feeling and criticized the regime.

it really is extraordinary

there are many creators who have repugnant personal views but few of them have made those views the entire focus of their lives to the point that they are intentionally overshadowing their own creative work

more proof that transphobia is an all-consuming brain parasite
Rowling's 24/7 commitment to being an absolute nightmare ghoul is sort of extraordinary. She has every option in the world for how to spend her life and she commits herself entirely to hatred and self-righteous mean-spiritedness; some are more effective at evil but nobody puts in the hours like her.

So you’re telling me the Wizard of Oz presented itself as a towering force of overwhelming technology, only to be unmasked as just some guy, off-screen?
So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

Instead of “Alligator Alcatraz” or “Alligator Auschwitz”, let me suggest that we call it simply the Dade-Collier Concentration Camp.

Hang the name on Florida. Make them own this disgraceful moment in U.S. history. Make our grandchildren lobby to change the name of Dade County out of shame.

True story: I had to stop watching the Muppet Christmas Carol audio commentary when Brian Henson started explaining how they made it “look” like Kermit was blowing out a candle because FUCK YOU BRIAN KERMIT IS REAL AND SO IS THE CHRISTMAS MAGIC.
I appreciate the extent to which, as a society, we have all agreed not to break The Muppets kayfabe

Do we still need stories about an aspirational immigrant who's so devoted to his adopted country that he regularly puts himself in danger to help even those who fear and distrust him, and who's primary antagonist is an egotistical tech billionaire?

Yes, fucking obviously. You numpties.

One thing you can do Right Now is be extremely vocal when you have librarians stocking inclusive collections. Call and tell them how happy you are, show up to board meetings. Bc the other side is *always* complaining and doing it in an organized way.

Of course this is how I learn that “Alligator Alcatraz” isn’t a piece of Daily Show satire but the actual literal NAME OF THE THING.
Donald Trump gives people permission to be their worst selves. His politics are not just representative, they are generative. His words seep into people’s souls and slowly corrode whatever potential for human decency ever resided there.
Floridians are taking pictures of themselves next to the sign for their new death camp

As I've said before, giving this concentration camp a cutesy name is reprehensible
