Hundreds turned out for the No Kings rally in Lowell. Speakers, music, and then a march downtown. A car full of young men drove by the rally multiple times to yell, “F&@% liberals,” among other things. Peaceful beyond that. Story from the events there and in Chelmsford later at lowellsun.com.

There’s a man over by the boathouse on Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell who said his parakeet escaped its cage and is now stuck in a tree.

Anyone know anyone who can climb about 15 feet up into a tree and save Lovey the Parakeet? I circled the spot of where the bird apparently is.

A search is on for an armed suspect spotted on the South Campus of UMass Lowell today. Police said in emergency radio broadcast that the suspect appeared armed with an AR-style rifle. Massive search ongoing.

Here’s the scene of an apparent hit-and-run crash involving a bicycle on Hillside St in Lowell. The bicyclist is on his way to Boston via MedFlight. Crews on scene said in radio report that he had a head injury with heavy bleeding.

A bear sighting on School Street in Chelmsford this past weekend. Estimated to be about 170-180 pounds, this guy is indulging in a bird feeder buffet.

Here’s some relatively crappy photos of the crash at the pump station in VFW, between Bridge and Aiken, in Lowell. An Audi sedan blasted through the fence and caused all sorts of damage. Vehicle ended up relatively close to a tank labeled “diesel” and “flammable.”

Here’s what it looked like at and near the intersection of Westford and Stevens in Lowell at about 5:15 pm today. Witnesses say a driver struck a parked car along Westford, kept going, and then crashed into Mill City Insurance. Driver hospitalized. Was conscious at the scene. More info later.

Not sure if this is related to the missing boy, but what appears to be a laurel wreath in a tree, just off the Lowell Riverwalk along the Merrimack River. It was placed right about where authorities set up during the search.

Here’s the scene along the Merrimack River in Lowell. Emergency crews are still looking for the 4-year-old boy who apparently ended up in the water. There are a lot of concerned citizens hoping for the best.

Here’s the pup who police said was attacked with a machete at Bishop Markham last week. He’s looking good and recovering at the Lowell Humane Society. LHS (a wonderful place that does amazing work) sent me the photo. I get a chance to visit him on Wednesday afternoon.

Having driven through the minefield of potholes that is Lowell city roadways, I’ve decided to document some of the notable examples. In the photograph is a fine specimen on Broadway, between Suffolk and Lewis, measuring approximately 22” length, 19” width, 5” depth.

Update on 5-alarm fire on Iron Horse Park in Billerica: Chief Robert Cole said they’re still fighting brush fires in area. Abandoned building that is now smoldering rubble is contained. Hotspots still being addressed. Investigation ongoing.

The damage done by a 2-alarm fire at a multi-family home at 446 Pawtucket St in Lowell on Wednesday night. Four people displaced, including a woman and her 6-year-old daughter. Full story later at lowellsun.com.
