I'm pretty sure it's not exactly the same as the original but it's close

I think it's a subtle British thing that's lost on Americans

Yes, thank you! That's what I was thinking of but I couldn't come up with the name!

You hear about people who were killed weeks (months?) after the Treaty of Ghent ended The War of 1812 because it took so long for word to get to the fronts

That's not something you can blame on third party app developers. Apple has full control over every part of that and they're doing it wrong.

iOS 26.2 comes out in December, they will have hopefully spent the couple of months between releases cleaning that stuff up

I saw Chris's review and thought "That's about right, it reads like it was written in a fit of mania" but I don't know that that's a reason not to like it www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Christopher McCaffery's review of If on a Winter's Night a Traveler

Interesting! I hadn't caught that they were allusions to actual novels! (There's clearly lots of Borges there, I took Ermes to be a Borges-type). But also part of me wondered if it wasn't just a man with a real way with words documenting his own descent into writer's block-induced madness

What's your elevator pitch of what's going on in If on a winter's night a traveler? I read it and got a big hmmmm out of it
