This illustrates the full process of capturing the "Essence" of a mesh to be used in a morph. The distance field is retrieved and then the mesh is projected onto the cube-shaped "screen" in order to pack its surface properties into two cubemaps.

Last year I wrote about the movement systems for Raz that we built on top of Unreal’s CharacterMovementComponent. This covers the architecture of our Move Mode system, how a few of our custom modes work, and a bit about dealing with inconsistent gravity.

Devin's posts provide a fun look into the technical details of Raz's movement, definitely worth a read!
I wrote a small series of articles earlier this year about some gameplay features I worked on in Psychonauts 2. A little look into how we built and tuned the systems. Here’s the one about Raz’s jump: doublefine.com/news/devin-a...

Finally got around to properly processing my eclipse photo from April. Took me a few attempts to find a good way to blend the individual exposures, but I'm much happier with the result. Significantly better detail in the corona, and less noisy overall. New image on the left, old on the right.

Drove up into the hills to get a view of comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS), along with its anti-tail! It’s drifting away from us now, but will still be visible for a few days - look for it in the western sky about an hour after sunset.

Due to a last minute change of plans I didn't have my full rig, but I still snapped some photos anyways. Hard to put into words, just wow.
