the scene currently.

i’d estimate the number of people arrested somewhere between 5-10 but it was honestly hard to tell amid the pandemonium.

protesters are signing, “whose side are you on? whose side are you on?”

Cook County deputies, Illinois State Police, and Broadview police just arrested at least 8 to 10 people, including several faith leaders.

at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.

Once more, with feeling: If Robert Moses was monomaniacal about building rail lines instead of roads, this could have been avoided.
The roads I go JFK are positively tragic. Just a hot mess snarled with construction and traffic and potholes. I hate it.

The crowd was spilling over into the street, forcing police to re-open the “free speech” zone on the other side of the street. Recently, police closed that area to all but credentialed press.

It's almost like for all these years, rich and powerful people have been lying to us about what happens when they have to pay their fair share of taxes.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Here in Broadview, outside Chicago, a large group of faith leaders & protesters have gathered this morning outside of ICE’s detention center.

This looks like one of the largest protests on Beach St. in weeks, where the city of Broadview is still enforcing a small “free speech” zone. It’s packed.

Trump's Chicago deportation blitz has hinged on aggressive and forceful policing tactics: Shootings, takedowns, chokeholds, car chases, chemical munitions, etc.

To get a better sense of the scope and the impact, we mapped incidents, spoke to those affected and analyzed policy.

The best practical advice I can offer to comrades in Charlotte is to invest in some PPE — respirators, goggles, face shields. Bovino’s goons are recklessly extravagant with chemical weapons and impact projectiles.

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.

Not sure when they will admit this but Bovino and his thugs are the real border wall. They have closed the border by demonstrating such cruelty (and advertising it so completely) that nobody wants to immigrate to the US anymore.
Bovino seems like he’s getting closer to admitting their entire premise is a lie, it has nothing to do with the law, and his mission is really about ethnic cleaning and terror.
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

I just had to renew my health insurance and I’ve got to pay my car registration this month—all while I’ve finally got the big move to a permanent new home underway. I could use about $300 so I don’t get overdrawn in a few days. See the post below if you can help. Many thanks.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
