The left didn't seem to do any introspection on the electability of their candidate after 2021, looks like 2025 is going to be the same? Just a lot of "anyone who didn't vote for my candidate is racist/fascist/islamophobic/stupid".

Sure. But these "venal people lacking character" have the right to vote as well, you know.

Is it that hard to understand? Many people who did not like Fateh voted for Frey partly to make sure Fateh wouldn't win. Davis was only a minor player in this drama in most non-online people's minds, same as Jazz. You might as well ask why they didn't vote for Kevin Ward.

Great write-up. I think Fateh has set himself up well for a future run if he wants it - his favored demographics' share in the electorate will be much higher by 2029, plus it will be hard for AllOfMpls types to find someone with the appeal that Frey had in those communities.

Were lessons learned from 2021? Not sure.

Progressives got behind a candidate with a low ceiling of support and obvious liabilities. Multiple council members who endorsed Fateh and put all their energy behind him even acknowledged he could not win. Fateh was never going to be Mamdani. He didn't have the charisma or the comms for that.
