My point was that it might be cheaper to pay out of pocket in comparison to the price of the subsidized stuff.

The only cash I use these days is what people give me, like dogsitting for friends, Birthday card money, etc...
Most of the time I try to trade it for an email transfer to someone who needs cash for Birthday cards, vending machines, etc...

I didn't pay much attention to the party leaders during the election cycle.
It was my impression the NDP lost seats to Liberals due to the fear of a Conservative government - a temporary shift to the right.
