Oh and I definitely got this wrong: there were no public executions. It was people being sentenced to death at the conclusion of public trials. And then immediately executed somewhere else.

Apart from the stupid slogans he repeats sometimes and his DSA affiliation he seems like a genuinely good person. Anyway the outrage about this comment is overwrought. Not everything is worth going apeshit about. Especially a trans woman making a dumb joke about bisexuality at a queer conference.

She made a joke about explaining why it’s important to be nice to people if you want to win elections. She also said “don’t be an asshole”. Wouldn’t a lot of you say that Mamdani kind of embodies that advice? I have my differences with him but he seems like he tries to be a good person.

Do you guys ever think that you jump the shark with the performance of outrage?

And he’d be the face of the country when it happened. I think they’d be treated differently than Cameron or even Boris. But we can never really know. But yeah Brexit was stupid.

And then there’s Savid Javid. I can’t remember when but he was in the running for PM at one point too. I think not long before the pandemic. I thought he might get the job because brexit had passed but not taken effect, but that was coming and everyone knew it.

At the time for me he was the latest in a long line of Tories of color who were appointed right before the party was about to try to do something terrible. Priti Patel for instance. I think she was the first to pursue this policy of deporting refugees to Rwanda.

I’m also thinking of Rishi Sunak. First South Asian UK PM. A major milestone for the UK indeed. And I think he got the job just after brexit was finalized in the middle of the pandemic. And he had a raft of other shitty policies to pursue.

But yeah my reading of it is that it’s possible for bad people from marginalized groups to become powerful and dangerous too. Or at least just disappointing as a leader. The first person I thought of after reading that was Alan Keyes. Then Herman Cain.

Antidepressants are good and if you get all worked up about them maybe it’s because you need some
