One of the reasons I feel like it's a big shame that modern games don't seem to encourage modding nearly as much is that "game that started as a mod for another game but became its own thing" I feel used to be a lot more common than it is now.
Total Chaos was originally a total conversion DOOM mod, now it's a standalone survival horror game, and it surprise launched today during the Xbox Partner Preview showcase.

i don’t think this is conspiratorial at all. it’s not what the tech was designed for originally but the ruling class has clearly identified that it’s a useful application and has a vested interest in seeing it grow
my most conspiracy brained thought right now is “ai slop isn’t just out there to make number go up for people who are already rich, it doubly serves the purpose of lowering the availability of useful information transmission in a fascist state”
