I've been making my way through Vanessa Angélica Villarreal's Magical Realism very, veeery slowly, but only because I love it so much and I'm taking tons of notes and putting in so many tabs. It's probably gonna be my favorite book of the year or one of the top ones. Everyone should check it out 🩷

We're reading Elite Capture by Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò for our first HmntyCntrd book club of the year this Sunday, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Didn't expect it to speak to my philosophy of language academic past but it's perfect.

(Also, my first audiobook ever as part of a new year's reading challenge)

I've never read Basara before but I've been absolutely glued to it all weekend. what a story, and don't even get me started on how beautiful the art is. should've read it sooner!

The time has come to admit that I failed my book goals for 2024 😅 I really didn't have a good reading year this year & most of those stats are just me stress-reading tons of manga and indie romance

But I also set my reading goals pretty high so I guess the end result is not too bad

Finally picked up Queer as Folklore by @sachacoward.bsky.social for a queer book club in Dublin in January 🌈 It makes for a great holiday read!

We're still in the process of moving but for a first time in a long while I finally have a desk of my own (and a study, soon to be filled with books) 🌸 Happy days
