We are encouraging all of our members, neighbors, and friends to contact Representative Kelly Cassidy (HD-14) and ask her to join her Democratic caucus colleagues in co-sponsoring HB 2723. It is time for Illinois to meet Illinoisans where they are at and repeal this extremist law!
December 2, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Even worse, the law applies to territories that Israel occupies, meaning that companies can miss out on investment because they won’t do business in illegal West Bank settlements.

Fortunately, legislation was filed to reverse this extremist policy just this year.

Democrats are fed up with the unconditional support our country grants to the Israelis, particularly while they prohibit aid from being distributed in Gaza. We urge our members, neighbors, and friends to tell @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov that they must support an arms embargo.

Tomorrow our friends at One People’s Campaign are going to be doing a training on how to politically engage your neighbors. Join them at 5:30PM to hear more about their Neighborhood Captain program, and to talk about how to make our city stronger!

Btws - want to show your opposition to the criminal Trump administration this Saturday, but can’t get to the main protest downtown because of mobility concerns or childcare obligations? Some neighbors are having an Edgewater-specific event that you can go to at the same time!
June 12, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Donald Trump wants a military parade? In this city he’ll have a protest instead.

This Saturday organizations like @indivisiblechicago.bsky.social will be rallying downtown from 12-2 to oppose this racist, criminal administration. We encourage all of our members, neighbors, and friends to attend.

With a little more than one week left to go before the fundathon ends, we have crushed our original goal and raised $3,386 for the Chicago Abortion Fund! We are so grateful for all the support our members, neighbors, and friends have shown for abortion care access.

The City of Chicago is considering upzoning Broadway, and we encourage everyone to call their representative on city council to support it. Our neighbors deserve safer streets, responsible development, and more affordable housing, regardless of which side of the street they’re on.

This Sunday we’ll be tabling at Solar Intentions to talk to people about how to defend our immigrant neighbors from the Trump administration. Stop by and support a cool small business in the ward!

If you live outside of the 48th Ward, message your alderperson and ask them to support R2025-0015954! And if you do live in our ward, keep contacting federal representatives like Senator Tammy Duckworth to demand Mahmoud Khalil's release!

Spectacular news: @the48thward.bsky.social has co-sponsored a city council resolution calling for the release of Mahmoud Khalil, an activist, green-card holder, and political prisoner that the Trump administration is trying to deport for his pro-Palestine advocacy!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table at Women and Children First last weekend to write thank you cards for National Abortion Provider Appreciation Day! They’ve been sent to a few local providers and some located on the border with states that have restricted abortion care.
March 15, 2025 at 5:12 PM
If you live in the 48th Ward, Rep. Schakowsky and Sen. Durbin have already called for him to be released. Please call to thank them for denouncing Mahmoud’s kidnapping, and tell their colleague Sen. Duckworth to speak up!

On Sunday we’ll be hosted by local favorite Women and Children First (5233 N Clark) from 1-3PM to let people write notes of support for abortion care providers across the state. Swing by their store to buy that book you’ve had your eye on, and while you’re there stop by our table to write a card!
