I really don't think that's true. Phishing scams /are/ going to happen, they're borderline unavoidable. Someone will always be stupid enough to fall for them. But a little blue checkmark - instant, identifiable proof that the user is reading a post from a verifiable source - is common on most social media platforms nowadays. That's because people are really, really inattentive and do not want to bother spending 30 seconds to make sure the URL perfectly matches. Having a central source that can give out fancy little "This Account Is Real" badges makes it harder to accidentally fall for a false headline. The point is NOT to make sure the headline itself doesn't contain misinfo (even though, really, it should be); just to make sure you know who you're listening to.

feed seems to fetch posts specifically from the viewer, which is mildly more private, but you still have to publicly 📌 pin the post so this still doesnt really work for anything you dont want people seeing lol. also its not working rn but the site is shitting itself so im not sure if theres a relation there or not
