pop culture also wildly distorted the word "quantum". a quantum is an integer, so all computers are quantum computers since quantum and digital mean the same thing. what people mean by "quantum computer" is one that uses superposition states (nothing inherently quantum abt a superposition either)

it's like, if you had a tiny lump and moved it such that it wouldn't make a gravitational difference on anything, both positions are superimposed, but if you input enough energy that it would make at least a 1 planck length difference then it collapses into one direction w/o "conscious observation"

I like Penrose's "Objective Reduction" theory: any spacetime geometry that is the same as another within a plank length is interchangable, so at low energies/momenta particles can be at a wide variety of positions/times with all being completely valid and indistinguishable
