🚨 #COP30 is flooded with fossil fuel lobbyists. Dr. Vipond @jvipondmd.bsky.social and Dr. Green were there with CAPE's physicians and team to denounce it, alongside the #KickBigPollutersOut coalition.

My latest in @edmontonjournal.com . The Journal of the American Medical Association recently advised Long COVID in kids may have now surpassed asthma as the leading paediatric chronic illness.

Danielle Smith's response: start charging for and limiting vaccines.

Opinion: UCP's COVID vaccine cuts put children at serious risk
A policy of ending pediatric COVID vaccination will disable, hospitalize and even kill Albertan children, leaving blood on Smith’s hands.

Received a joint statement from the Calgary Board of Education and Edmonton Public Schools chairs. Both boards were named in the news release and were surprised because the minister did not raise concerns before the news conference. #ABleg #ABpoli #ABedu

Bill 55 buries a quiet bomb: a clear path to privatized hospitals. Critics say it hands our public health infrastructure to for-profit operators,no plan for new beds, just more giveaways. Albertans deserve care, not corporate gain #AbLeg #StopBill55 #ProtectPublicHealthCare

I live with a librarian so this study confirms what I've already known. Libraries & librarians do FAR more to make your neighbourhood safer than the police could ever dream to. Bonus points: libraries don't just make your neighbourhood safer, they make it better. Plus librarians are cute as hell.

Cons said it would never happen, but here we are. Private hospitals on the way. Republicans in Alberta got their wish. Everyone but shareholders are absolutely screwed. Goodbye healthcare. A new provincial government can't come soon enough.

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if political ideology doesn’t stand in the way. ysaatio.fi/en/homelessn...

This is very insightful.
I'm often asked: What motivates Danielle Smith to do the radical things she does?

After all, many of her actions fly in the face of public opinion, the constitution, conservative ideology, and her own public commitments.

I used to equivocate.

I'm about ready to call it.🧵

But none of these fully capture the core of Smith's political soul.

That was laid bare in her justification for clearing a path for a referendum on sovereignty.

The answer: nakedness political ambition and partisanship.
