I spent the 2010's arguing with my white colleagues that we were facing a crisis in newsroom diversity. The smart, dedicated, talented cis white journalists I thought of as my friends didn't want to hear it. Most of them ignored me. At least one of them told me to go to hell.

Maybe it’ll be the same day where the idea of being gender-nonconforming isn’t exclusively reserved for androgynous yt people. Or the day that deconstruction of gender is seen as a collective thing and not an individual pursuit. Or one day, niggas won’t be hypermasculined for worse or for worse
