Really enjoyed Task. Thoughtful and well acted while still being an engaging nuts-and-bolts crime story.

Funny to think that if the show was made in the 90s, they would have dragged out the story for another 15 episodes and Ruffalo's character would have been named Detective John Task.

Is there anyone out there who actually agrees with Tarantino re: Paul Dano? He's a brilliant actor. One of my favorite Dano performances is as Brian Wilson in Love & Mercy, a real underrated gem.

I think the billionaires are reading dystopian fiction purely for ideas at this point.

Is there a genre name for #fiction that takes place after some global transformative event but that is decidedly *not* post-apocalyptic? Something like Pluribus where things are actually kind of better (at least on the surface), or maybe not all that different at all.

In the 21st century, we are both the audience for and the purveyors of a non-stop barrage of propaganda.
Everything Is Propaganda Now
The all-seeing, all-knowing algorithm has created a world in which everything is propaganda. Everything we see is designed to reinforce what we believe.

Every few months there's a viral story about a drunken raccoon or a duck that chases toddlers or a rooster that poops in coffee and it's the only bright spot in an otherwise unending torrent of 21st century terror.

With Spotify Wrapped trending, I know a lot of people are looking to break away from that company. Like many people, one of my main reasons for staying was my years of playlists.

When I finally made the switch to Qobuz, it ended up not being that hard to keep my music. I highly recommend it.
Spotify vs Qobuz: Why I Made the Switch - 10 Cities10 Years
Spotify vs Qobuz: I'd been a Spotify subscriber for nearly a decade at this point. But I'd been looking for an alternative. Enter: Qobuz.

The only time Trump can keep his eyes open anymore is when he's rage-sputtering racist attacks toward immigrants.

I've talked about this when it comes to SSI fraud. I'd rather 1000 people fraudulently get benefits than 1 person be denied; others would prefer 1000 eligible people get denied rather than 1 person commit fraud (note: SSI fraud is EXTREMELY rare).
I would rather have a world where we all trust each other and accept that a few people will take advantage of it than a world where folks have to perform disability constantly in order to get the help they need. Let kids have an extra 30 minutes on the test, jesus fucking christ

Remember when portions of the internet – including nominal leftists – insisted Trump was going to be a dove compared to Clinton and Biden? Anyway.

I assumed this was a Photoshop joke, but it's legit. Someone royally fucked up (by someone, I mean probably an AI algo)
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

According to this new OU standard, there are some college chemistry tests I deserved an A on because I *believed* my answers were correct.
Oklahoma University has placed a grad student instructor on admin leave for failing a psychology paper on gender for citing *the Bible* as a source of empirical evidence.

In response, OU has placed on instructor on admin leave citing, get this, the FIRST AMENDMENT.

Universities are cooked.

conservatives basically want to implement the caricature of affirmative action for conservative students. acceptance without meeting qualifications, good grades and degrees without having to do the work.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

If you're enjoying Pluribus - and I sure am - you might just get a kick out of my debut novel, which includes messages from a distant alien species and an inexplicable change to humanity.

Yahweh's Children is #litfic with a dollop of sci-fi and a tinge of satire.

I know it's been said a million times by now, but this is literal N@zi shit.
this defies parody. also helps explain why Sec Bessent bizarrely blamed immigrants when confronted with a question about high beef prices

A corollary to that post about how using "AI art" makes your business look cheap, using AI for your promotional materials makes me assume the actual show or movie is shit. This Robin Hood show may be a masterpiece, but I wouldn't watch it based on this alone.

I'm looking for ARC readers for my new #litfic novel if anyone out in #ARCsky is interested.

I'm also willing to do a read-for-read if any writers are looking for a reader for their book.
