this is, again, a case of someone who has not done any kind of real work in decades (maybe ever, she has a degree in political science and has been doing HR her entire career) who think the bullshit they sleepwalk through every day is work and don't understand why real human beings get tired by it

Wild they have to write a bill for this
A new bill will head to Congress to prevent women from being turned away or sent home from a hospital while in active labour. This is after a video circulated of a Black woman who was dismissed from a hospital, only to give birth in her truck minutes later on the side of the road.
A woman gave birth 8 minutes after a hospital turned her away. A bill aims to stop that from happening again.
The legislation seeks to stop Black women from suffering during and after childbirth and hold hospitals accountable, according to bill language obtained exclusively by NBC News.

🧵 We are, in fact, doing the thing again for @onesimplewish.bsky.social. In 2024, the kind people of this community put the money cannon on blast to help grant $75K in wishes for children in foster care. Toys, tech, a suit for job interviews. Here we go again! 👇

Kelly Hayes’ writing and her Movement Memos Podcast episodes about AI have been immensely useful to me and I recommend them. In this clip from our recent conversation, Kelly talks about how AI is emerging in a context of alienation and dehumanization.

We gotta start close-reading Dead Kennedys album artwork like it’s the writings of Nostradamus
Real tweets from the White House are indistinguishable from anti-Trump AI slop.

Or, in this case, 1990s Adbusters parodies.

don't know what else to say but that we truly hate children in this country. Our ruling class is littered with pedophiles, we spent two years genociding and starving the kids in Gaza, we've done nothing to stop children here from being shredded by assault rifles in classrooms.

The Times interviewed dozens of migrant men sent to a prison in El Salvador by the Trump administration. Independent forensic analysts called the testimony credible and consistent and said the treatment met the U.N.’s definition of torture.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

What does our health care system look like? What does our social safety net look like?

It looks like Marcus. At 61, he spends most nights riding the Chicago Red Line or looking for a park bench or bus stop, trying to find sleep. He recently finished radiation treatment for prostate cancer.
Cancer killed his parents. He’s facing the same disease alone — and unhoused.
Marcus Ford, like other Black men around the country, lives with a higher risk of dying from cancer due to factors out of his control. But Medicaid cuts may take away his treatment.

As I continue to watch a TERF vs. trans ally discourse play out I cannot get over the fact that we are arguing about no actual people. There are zero trans women in top level professional sport right now. Literally none. It is an argument based on a fantasy about something that might happen someday.

please give money and not food, it takes a not insignificant amount of time to sort and stock donations and money goes very far. also make sure you donate to a place that treats people with dignity and respect and allows access to anyone
as we reach the SNAP cliff just a gentle reminder to do-gooders that the most efficient use of resources is to contribute to organizations that are already established. unless nothing exists in your area (and it likely does whether you know it) now is probably not the time to stand something up
