In 2018, The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommended that all states adopt per se Blood Alcohol limits of 0.05% accompanied by media campaigns and robust and visible enforcement efforts.

Washington's per se blood alcohol limit for under 16-20-year-olds is 0.02%. But it jumps up to 0.08 for drivers 21 and older.
And so does the risk. Between 0.05 and 0.08% BAC, 21–34-year-olds are nearly 5x more likely to be involved in a fatal crash compared to a sober driver.

Did you know that most drivers across the planet are subject to per se Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) limits of 0.05 or lower? Only one European country (UK) has its limits set at 0.08. The rest are between 0.00-0.05. Limits are often lower for young and professional drivers, too. #TrafficSafety
