The gap between productivity and wages is a myth. More people earn non-labor income than in the past. Retirees, for example. Is it bad that they are receiving retirement benefits? None of these facts are theoretical and they are in no way contradictory.

If that means "ability to do basic math and to understand what it means", then guilty.

This variable does not measure any of those things. It is also not inconsistent to have the labor share of income falling and the wage-productivity gap to be a myth.

As I said, more people receive non labor income. Is that bad? Should retirees not exist? Should people not own shares in companies? It has little to do with what you're worried about.

Why are the two things inconsistent? Also, why do we care? Many more people have non-labor income.

You can download the data and divide the numbers yourself if you are able. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you believe a wrong and dumb thing that is easily disproven. And all you have is "AEI lmao" when you are relying on stuff from the EPI.

You're the one claiming a contradiction. Wages and productivity have moved closely together, all these other things have happened that you are worried about, and there is no contradiction. Fine.

The argument is quite simple. Real wages and productivity have not diverged when you measure them correctly. Using inflation measures that are more suited for long-term analysis helps a great deal in correcting the error that they have diverged.

If you think there is a contradiction, then I suggest looking at these other things you believe to be true, or try to resolve the contradiction somehow.

Real wages and productivity haven't diverged. The proof of this is that the two variables, real wages and productivity, have moved together when measured properly. Other things happening does not negate that fact.

It has been debunked many times over the years. You might try googling the words "wage productivity myth".

Can you show me these secret corrections?

The corrected chart shows no such thing. You are probably referring to the EPI's partially corrected chart rather than the several ones that do it properly.

That chart is bullshit, though. Mismeasures inflation and productivity. It has been debunked every which way for years.

Median real wages are not flat since 1973.

What happens when those things are accounted for?

It sounds like he is confusing prices and inflation, unless he means that the tariff effects will wear off. It is their effect on inflation that should not be persistent, not their effect on prices.

Cosplaying doesn't really scare that many people.

For the time being, let's just keep calling it your mom's basement.

Wow. A betrayal of a phony yet crazy movement. Quite the serious charge.

We were told that there would be no malarkey. There has been quite a lot of malarkey.

So they just get it out of the ground and then use it all themselves? Do they just burn it away, or do they use it for getting more oil?

Need to close the height gap.

I agree that they should not be treated as equal, but a height subsidy would encourage the short to better measure up.

He was referring to NYC central business district when he said "district" and I thought he meant the District of Columbia.

How is this a national security issue?

But the claim is that people don't use their trucks for trucking. No need for towing or hauling, so a bike will do. If you demonstrate a need to a truc to a panel of MIT urban planners, they might give you a dispensation to get a truck judged more suitable to their superior sensibilities.

I think the point is quite obnoxious, actually. People paid their own money for what they think is best for them and what they want. Need has nothing to do with it. Taken to its logical conclusion, no one actually needs a vehicle at all. Bicycles will do fine.

You can get any seating/bed-length combo you want. But when your goal is condescending snideness, misrepresentation is useful.

Quite a few. I also see many with extended cabs. Different people have different truck needs and it is good that there is more variety than there used to be.
