Shoutout to the L&D nurse who kept calling my vag my “Vancouver island” and used me as an in between to fight with her coworker! Fresh out the OR from a traumatic birth due to the anesthesiologist not wanting to come in and incompetent angry nurses and I get asked how my Vancouver Island feels??

Today I took my fathers guitar out of storage
I pick it up like you would a child. I cradle the case noticing the weight and for a quick moment I wonder if how much he weighed when his friends cradled him for the last time. my voice squeaks out “daddy” the words cutting up my throat.

It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation.
I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!
