(they/them) - Your friendly-neighbourhood Eldritch Entity. Unfathomably ancient (27). Very Queer. Very Non-Binary. Likes Tetris. Like ... a lot. Has too many plants. The "radical left(TM)".
Only adding the "We used Gen-AI to make assets"-disclaimer, less than a week before launch is a scummy move. Never preorder folks.

I expected better from Ubisoft Mainz and ANNO 117, but I guess we can't have nice things anymore.

I loved the game, despite it's shortcomings. The story asked some fascinating moral questions. By the time I learned about them using Gen-AI in it's development, my playthrough was almost done.

The game about corporate exploitation using Gen-AI to fill gaps, was deeply ironic and left a bad taste.

"The more we let companies use GenAI in development, the more we all stand to lose."

As scope increases and budgets shrink, The Alters is a cautionary tale of gaps plugged up by AI, and the backlash that follows.

The more we let companies use GenAI in development, the more we all stand to lose. We examine the ripple effects of AI use in games, beginning with The Alters.

I genuinely can't overstate how big a deal it is to see a first party Nintendo game feature a dedicated Accessibility menu like this, so well thought out, detailed in depth before game release.

There is literally no precident for this from Nintendo.

This is a huge leap forward.
Watching through the second Kirby Air Riders Nintendo Direct because I was told they discussed accessibility features during it.

First thing I have spotted, 40 ish mins in, there's a setting to slow down the speed of gameplay.

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

*sighs*
Steam Next-Fest is up.
I go through my recommendations.
A total of 6 games immediately catch my eye.
Out of those 6, 3 games use generative AI in some way.

And sadly, Steam hasn't been particularly strict on enforcing the "disclose AI on the store"-rule, so who knows if there isn't more.

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

As someone who used to work in Community-Management and Moderating large-ish online spaces, Bluesky is fascinating to me. Who are you trying to build a platform for?

They've done nothing but harm their core-audience while pampering literal Nazis and other far-right grifters, that despise them.

God its so disingenuous to pretend that all CK did was “have horrible opinions”. The man co-founded an organization that’s sole function was to fight tooth and nail to indoctrinate children at school into violent white nationalism. He wasn’t even just a pundit. He was ceo of the baby Nazi factory.

If bluesky bans me again I want you to know this:

@jay.bsky.team and @aaron.bsky.team collaborate with fascists on twitter in order to choose specific accounts to ban.

They work with nazis directly because they despise the leftist audience they've unwillingly acquired and they want us gone.
Shortly after posting my reaction to a white supremacist getting packed up, my Bluesky account was suspended for 24-hours.

The reason given as outlined in the email below was "incitement to violence".

This may strike you as strange because saying "LMAO" is not incitement. Well, there's more!

They took marching orders from the Nazis and helped them target BIPOC and trans users on their website.

Hey @steampowered.com,
will you be allowing refunds for the Alters, since they used generative AI without adding the required disclaimer to the store page? (Which they still haven't done btw, a week after they admitted to using AI on here)

They did break your store policy after all.
We’ve seen a wide range of accusations regarding the use of AI-generated content in The Alters, and we feel it’s important to clarify our approach and give you more context.
