Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 2 was asking listeners for their favourite Stevie Wonder Song which gave me an excuse for a quick Stevie Wonder Poem and a vote for "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday"

Anyone in the UK with young children knows what a double edged sword TV can be by encouraging learning and providing mental stimulation and of course fun but too much TV causes square eyes! This was written when my children were young.

November has…
Armistice, so put your hands in your pockets.
Also, sparklers, Catherine wheels and rockets.
Which light dark skies on each Guy Fawkes Day
Comfort your pets or keep them well away.
As some animals do fear the noise
But a lot of fun for girls and boys

Its Children in Need this Friday. For Non UK followers CIN is one of the biggest charity fundraisers in the year held over an entire evening on our biggest TV network - BBC One. Throughout the UK people like Sara Cox do amazing things to raise money for children related charities.

In the UK we have only just got over Halloween and along comes Bonfire Night when for US followers is when we celebrate, Guy Fawkes failed attempts in 1603 to blow up parliament, with bonfires and fireworks although we no longer burn an effigy of the Pope but of Guy Fawkes himself.

Halloween means a spooky mother and baby poem!

Appreciation of a painting is in the eye of the beholder especially if the artist is your child.

October has…
A sight to feast your eyes upon the trees,
The gorgeous colours never fail to please.
As leaves mutate from green to gold and brown,
And early autumn sends them tumbling down.

When I wrote this my children were quite young. 10 years later. I really appreciate the sentiments and yes they did stay as lovely as they were!

Da-da-da-da-da-da-daah bursting onto British TV's can only mean one thing - Strictly is back!

The long hot and wet summer is over and autumn seems to be here early so many parents will understand the story behind the poem called Long John Silver.

An old poem written by Les and myself years ago seemed suitable to celebrate National Teddy Bears Day.

I collaborated with the late Les Roberts on songs and musicals. Les wrote 'The Sea is Red' as his personal anthem to #autism and its lyrics remains one of my favourites.

@johnharris1969.bsky.social has got it totally right in the extract. Leaks from the Autumn White Paper show the UK Govt appears to be moving towards reduction of special needs support for future claimants at a time when it is even more needed than ever. maybeimamazed.substack.com/p/is-the-gov...
Is the government going to take away the rights of children with Special Needs?
It is beginning to look like it.

Radio 2 in the Park is now a British musical institution and this year is at Chelmsford in Essex with some great music. What more do I need to pen a quick poem?

Ozzy suffered from Dyslexia and ADHD but still was able to become the legendary singer and songwriter before his death. My favourite Ozzy being Ozzy quote is “Still, one of the few good things about being dyslexic is that when I say I don’t read reviews, I mean I don’t read reviews.” RIP Ozzy

The 10th anniversary of publishing Clueless Clarence prompted me to revisit it and today is the launch of an updated version including Clarence's famous poems! If you haven't read it now is your chance and if you read it years ago check out the changes. Enjoy - Zoe www.marshland.org.uk/zoeindex

Mummy, why are the neighbours not using their car?
Hmm, it’s very unusual for them to do this - by far.

This is Walk to School Week, & so -
It was invented 30 years ago.
Supporting healthier lifestyles & cleaner air,
Yes, such a brilliant idea I must declare.

May 19th - 23rd is Walk to School Week, so here is a performance poem if anyone would like one.

Don’t just talk about it
get up and walk.
Walk where?
Walk to school.

Leave the car on your drive
start to feel you’re alive
when you walk,
walk to school...
