ICE raids are cruel, inhumane, and do nothing to serve public safety.

My responsibility is to be the mayor to each and every person that calls this city their home. That includes millions of immigrants— of which I am one.

Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Learning With AI Falls Short Compared to Old-Fashioned Web Search
In virtually all the ways that matter, getting summarized information from AI models was less educational than doing the work of search.

Pete Hegseth is a straight-up serial killer

No asterisk, no caveat, he simply orchestrated—multiple times on multiple dates—a criminal conspiracy to murder unarmed persons who the U.S. military code deemed incapacitated and not a threat and then went online and admitted to doing it knowingly

Dear members of the Press,

When one of you asks Donald Trump a question, and he calls any one of you a derogatory name, or treats you harshly, you should all 'in unison' turn and walk out. The one thing Donald Trump relishes above money is that camera and the attention. Try taking it away from him.

National Guard troops don't sign up to be used as political pawns. They sign up to serve their country, not needlessly deploy to American cities to pick up garbage. These two soldiers should be alive right now and at home with their families for Thanksgiving. I'm furious.

2) So is putting National Guard members in harm’s way to score political points.

Hi, traditionally published author here! We make about $1 or $2 off each regular priced sale, depending on format. The added value is that it encourages stores to keep stocking it, and it keeps bookstores alive, which is huge for us, and sales determine whether publishers offer us more book deals.

And the folks who are actually writing full-time generally only got there after years of day jobs, family support, or both.

The point of sharing this is not to demoralize anyone, but to let emerging writers know they're not failing if they can't make a living off writing alone. Almost no one can.
almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.
