The NCGOP will lie right to your face and say they believe in equal rights while actively undermining basic civil rights. Debating them is like playing make-believe. #ncpol

Have not seen much on here on Sudan, so I'm amplifying this horrific report that shows the number who are killed is higher than previously estimated.

Adding here other writing to read to understand this war that has displaced over 11 million people; the highest displacement crisis globally. 🧵
More than 61,000 dead in Khartoum state alone, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's Sudan Research Group finds: 26,000 of them killed as a direct result of the violence. Leading cause of death across Sudan is preventable disease and starvation.

My unadulterated belief in humanity’s inherent goodness overwhelms me to the point of suffocation sometimes. So much grief.

Knowing it doesn’t have to be like this, that it shouldn’t be like this.

It’s like having an artificial set of lungs put in because the old ones weren’t allowed to breathe

Rafah crossing is still closed, nobody can get out. I am not sure if medevacs are currently being granted.

People need money for survival inside Gaza. Merchants set the prices.

We on the outside have a duty to keep pressure on governments and international orgs.

I do not want my friends to die.

For background on that Maori haka in the NZ parliament making the rounds, the conservative govt agreed to roll back Maori rights as part of its coalition deal with a smaller libertarian party.

Prior to that, NZ was a model for redressing historical injustices against Indigenous peoples.
