"AI" is absolutely and ONLY a marketing term, and at this point if it's being used, the intent behind it is to overpromise to the consumer/end user on the program's actual capabilities. And, of course, none of the "AI" is actually intelligent in any meaningful way.
It would be neat if it wasn’t marketed as AI. Predictive statistical modeling doesn’t really slide off the tongue I guess

Yeah. Good luck putting Asterix through AI. Translators for books are skilled workers. It’s not the same as understanding a holiday menu.
Writers! Note that AI translation (under the guise of "global access") is being seen/used as the weak point to get AI into publishing (possible bc Eng lang publishing is weak on translation). Stand with translators & for more human translation, fairly paid!

It got me thinking - how often are back stories and other facts verified?

On a personal note I've written papers, books and columns about pregnancy loss, referencing my own, no publisher/editor ever requested proof.

I composed this symmetrical scene at St Paul's London Underground station, & then suddenly loads of people rushed to catch the train. It was only when I was editing at home that I noticed I had captured a hat man!
