PSA 📢

Emotional dysregulation (meltdowns, shutdowns, irritability, outbursts, depression, anxiety...) is NOT a behavior issue.

And if you treat it like one, instead of solving the problem (whatever is actually causing the behavior), you'll end up making it a LOT worse.

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

I don't know why we still call them ICE and treat them as a legitimate organization. They are an armed Militia and should be designated as a terrorist group. No other legal force in America wears masks and strips people of due process. They are a terrorist organization

PSA: Meltdowns aren’t “bad behaviour”

They’re a response to overwhelm - a sign that an autistic person’s needs aren’t being met

Every autistic person deserves what they need to feel safe, happy and comfortable ❤️

Being neurodivergent means you over-explain EVERYTHING in hopes of clear communication, then get anxious that your over-explanation was irritating and actually made things more confusing 🫤

If you’re still using Duolingo, this is what you’re supporting.

Imagine if we called men boys the way women are called girls.

“Love that the CEO is a boy.”
“They have a boy head coach.”
“That boy is hot.”

Language is power.

The autistic paradox - Where one is called weird, strange or different until they say they're autistic, then they're "too normal to be autistic"

Not sure how this is measured but 71% definitely seems low to me.

Making holiday magic adds to an even more overwhelming share of the mental load, the invisible work that goes into managing a household and family.

Please don't share videos or images of autistic children (or adults) having meltdowns. You likely wouldn't want someone exposing your most vulnerable moments without your permission, and autistic people deserve the same respect and privacy. Spread the word. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic

Could you reply to or QS this post and tell someone else on here what you love and/or appreciate about them?

I need someone to make me Thanksgiving pizza. A lot of these ideas sound amazing.
My wife just said “I think I am going to make the Thanksgiving pizza doughs today.”

Me: “Thanksgiving pizza?”

“I meant pie dough.”

“Hold on. I think you have something there.”

We have now spent 20 minutes discussing how to make a Thanksgiving pizza.

The older I get the more I realise I DO want men to be strong. But not physically strong, rather, strong enough that if they hear something that upsets them, instead of shouting, or fighting, or sulking, they ask, “is there any way to do better?”
