At the DeSantis Everglades detention camp, people with green cards are being held in terrible conditions, with maggots in the food, the lights kept on 24 hours a day, and delayed access to medicine.

One guy had his Bible taken and was told "here there is no right to religion."

Justice Democrats announces their first recruit in four years: Donavan McKinney—to primary multimillionaire Shri Thanedar.

Thanedar used to call Israel an apartheid state, flip-flopping after an AIPAC trip to Israel.

JD helped elect Rashida Tlaib, AOC, Summer Lee, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley.

Great interview in @teenvogue.com with @thevivllainous.bsky.social, Elon Musk’s trans daughter.

Worth your time.

(Plus she looks fabulous on the cover!)

One nice thing about the Trump era is that it’s revealed how much of the American political, media and economic elite believe in absolutely nothing.

This is unbelievably pathetic and stupid. Just unfathomable someone would consider themselves a Democratic leader and vote for a bill that legitimizes the Trump-Musk coup.

@schumer.senate.gov should resign.
SCHUMER just now: "While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."

If Gillibrand can't figure out how to help her members message who is actually at fault for the shutdown during campaign season, then maybe she shouldn't be the DSCC chair.
3. Gillibrand is right—Republicans plan on making it very, very painful for Democrats if there is a shutdown, and Gillibrand is now overseeing the DSCC, which means she’s responsible for all the Senate Democratic candidates running in this cycle.

This is not leadership.

It is abasement to norms that no longer exist.
Jeffries sends a letter to Democrats saying "The decision to attend the Joint Session is a personal one and we understand that members will come to different conclusions. However, it is important to have a strong, determined and dignified Democratic presence in the chamber."

Democrats pick Elissa Slotkin to represent the party & respond to Trump's speech.

She was the first Democrat ever endorsed by Liz Cheney; voted for the Laken Riley Act, empowering Trump to detain people without due process; and is a top Democratic voter of Trump's cabinet.

More on her record:

New in PN: AOC shows how to fight back and stand strong

"Prominent figures standing up can undermine the climate of fear that MAGA relies on to impose terror. AOC’s work on behalf of her constituents and refusal to be intimidated are models of resistance other Democrats would do well to imitate."
AOC shows how to fight back and stand strong
Other Democrats, from Schumer to Hochul, should follow her lead.
