Mozambique’s agriculture employs about 80% of the population, yet 95% of farms depend on rainfall. 💧

At our Dondo Agri tech Centre in Mozambique young people are learning to become the farmers of tomorrow equipped with climate-smart skills to grow food sustainably. 🌳

Since July 2024, 68 farmers at our YA Dondo Agritech Centre have been learning vegetable, cereal, and poultry production, as well as yoghurt processing - all using climate-resilient methods.

In a region heavily scarred by war and climate disasters, choosing poultry farming is a symbolic choice.

That’s why Paulino in Montepuez, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, chose poultry farming, feeding his family, supporting his brother’s education.

In Mozambique, we watched something powerful unfold. Through the Skills2Live youth entrepreneurship bootcamp, young people came face-to-face with employers and they showed up with ideas, with courage, with purpose.

Friday marked the final pitches of the climate change Hackathon during which youth from Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe worked together to generate new ideas to combat climate issues in their communities.

3 winning teams each walked away with $500 in startup support to grow their green ideas!
