Health facilities in Tigray were destroyed during the war. As a result, reports indicate that Polio, which disappeared decades ago, has surged in Tigray. In addition, malaria is also on the rise in Tigray the situation in IDPs, where there is no clean water supply and health facilities is worse.

It’s been a while since the fuel supply was interrupted in Tigray. Hundreds of cars are waiting in queueing, while gas stations are asking for a support letter from the woreda commerce office's. As a result, transportation in various places has been affected.

The suspension of USAID has resulted in an immediate crisis, mainly affecting the IDPs. Trump govt, and Tigray interim administration and other concerned bodies should look for alternative options to save the lives of IDPs.

On Nov 28, 2020, Axum witnessed one of the most devastating massacres in recent memory. Eritrean troops brutally killed hundreds of civilians in a city valued for its history. The ❝poor and helpless Tigray❞ narrative is being used to justify Ethiopian rule. Tigray political leadership seem oblivious, while our people remain unaware. Instead of such rhetoric, we should focus on policy choices that can truly empower Tigray.

Days ago, I visited Raya to see my family and found my little brother infected with malaria. Many villagers in the village are also infected. The situation is worsened by the destruction of the health center during the war, which caused the healthcare system to collapse. Malaria is resurging.

Despite the poignant tale of hardship suffered by IDPs from western Tigray, the WFP in northwestern Tigray states that aid will only be distributed to those living in the IDP centers, while 75% of the IDPs lives outside the centers with the hosting community.
