I have a friend who doesn't work, and they're always so surprised that I have working hours I need to keep. That I can't just choose what hours I want to work. And if I've had a bad night's sleep, that I can't just not go into work. I've stopped explaining, their level of neuro-spicy can't grasp it.

Dodging people, Emmathin moved down the main street of Falione. He was in a decent mood. His armor was being repaired and he was on the lookout for a new dagger. Buying weapons always made him cheerful. Being in a city wasn't bad, there was obviously much more to do, look at and purchase. But he couldn't shake the feeling that shit was going go down.

Elek was sleeping. His shiny black feathers moved softly with his breath. He was such a pretty bird. Sunna smiled, she couldn't tell him that, he'd get all grumpy. Elek kept telling her he was a handsome bird, pretty was for showy birds, like magpies. A crow was dignified. Sunna was glad they had come to Falione. Another day sleeping on a bedroll in the middle of nowhere would have her screaming in boredom.

Morue slouched on his chair in the corner of the tavern. He was in a bad mood, but couldn't exactly pinpoint what was making him pissy. He sipped his beer, letting the bitter brew slide down his throat, trying to swallow his bitter thoughts. So far, no good. It had been 80 years, or more, now. Bullshit scheme after bullshit scheme, followed by some mercenary work to fill the coffers a little more reliably.
