Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

I wonder @folklorepod.bsky.social if you know of any books specifically about the folklore of birds in the British Isles? Of course we know the magpie rhyme but there must be other stuff (wrens in Ireland, robin redbreast aside).

Rewatching Derry Girls and I still marvel at how well it captures the mid-90s. I was a teenager at the same time, albeit in Yorkshire, and so much is just spot on.

Since Saturday I have walked 25 miles. Today I will take Pip out for a bimble and then spend the day not doing very much of anything.

I asked my Lithuanian colleague about this and she said it's nothing to do with the doll- apparently it's from the 19thC and was coined because of it rhyming as a phrase
The Lithuanian for ‘Jack of All Trades’ is 'Barbie Nine Jobs’.

I love Taylor Swift but my very very Swifties friends are so excited about her new album that it's lovely to see (also the colour theme for the next album is orange aka my favourite colour)

I think Smiths/early solo era Morrissey is one of the most clever and interesting lyricists. I also thank the stars that Johnny Marr is applying an excellent person
Here’s a question: who is the artist with politics you disagree strongly with, whose politics *do* (in your view) influence their art, that you still think is talented and whose work you enjoy?
