I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok?

Signed, a librarian.

This. 100%.
There is no “trans ideology.”

There are trans people.

If you deny them their worth and dignity, their human and civil rights, that’s a problem with YOU.

Fix yourself.

If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.

How to be a Knight #10: Be patient with yourself. Learning involves mistakes and there will be plenty. Reflect, forgive yourself, and keep going. It's the little things that improve you and you're already making progress every day.

How to be a Knight #9: Take your time. There is so little time, but take it anyway in improving yourself. Nothing worth doing is worth rushing with minimum effort.

How to be a Knight #8: Maintain your body. It is your temple. Know what isn't good for it and adjust. Make little daily improvements to your physical health. Your body is your one of your best instruments. Treat it as such.

How to be a Knight #7: Listen more than you speak. In civil conversations, let people finish not only their sentences, but also their paragraphs. You'll learn much more and improve your listening skills. And never refuse to listen because you arrogantly assume you know everything. You don't.

Hello friendos

It would be terrible if you told people about Books Unbanned, a program to get free library cards into the hands of teens and young adults anywhere in the country so they can access e-copies of frequently banned materials.

Freedom to read.

They can sign up here: booksunbanned.com

How to be a Knight #6: Find and build your community. Although some try, no one is an island. Every Knight will need lifting up sometimes. Surround yourself with those who love and support you. Don't be afraid to let go of those who only criticize and drain you.

Please, if you are able, support Independent bookshops.

They are the literary & social hubs of our high streets and communities.

Without their continued support, we simply wouldn't be around to publish .

Thank you.

The reason I'm so positive about aspiring writers is that I believe that:

* Anyone who can string a sentence together can write a story, script or book.

* Anyone who puts enough time, effort, and workshopping into it can write a GOOD story, script, or book.

* Anything finished can be fixed.

How to be a Knight #5: Find your calm to meditate. You don't have to sit still for mindfulness; knit, whittle, color, puzzle. Do whatever puts you in a place of calm and use it to reflect. Do it daily or at least regularly. Give yourself room to breathe.
