"The nuclear family" is built into white settler colonialism and capitalism. It's why the idea of calling someone 'auntie' who isn't one of your parents' siblings is so alien to the right.

Ask BIPOC folk how many aunties and uncs they have. Good odds it doesn't match their genetic family tree.
