There are thousands of things like this in tech. Why is search bad in Gmail. Why does Bluetooth suck. Why are most streaming apps bad. Why is file transfer still annoying. Every day it feels like I've got random issues with tech stuff while these companies sink billions into AI
if microsoft just made outlook search not suck they'd see triple the productivity gains of any AI integration

If my Facebook feed is any indication, Labor just dropped a bundle to have their MPs gloat over Liberal Party dysfunction. I've been assailed by Tanya Plibersek, Clare O'Neil and Ali France in rapid succession.

It will be interesting to see how many Labor MPs I block before this runs its course.

Today I became that person in the office who steals a working keyboard from another desk. But only because it was easier than stealing a working monitor to go with the working keyboard in situ.

Hotdesking is going *great*, by the way.

So the Libs are irrelevant? Great we knew that. But an OECD report released overnight put the focus on the actual govt and the Safeguard Mechanism which is quite the dud

My column for @thepointau.bsky.social
thepoint.com.au/news/2150
OECD report shows LNP climate irrelevance, while Safeguard Mechanism among least effective emissions reduction schemes in world
The report demonstrates that Australia’s safeguard mechanism remains one of the least effective programs for reducing emissions, and relies the most on carbon credits.

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Victoria isn’t broke, its net assets are actually increasing

The reason it’s spending more than it’s collecting at present is it’s in the middle of massive infrastructure upgrades

The BCA is calling for more infrastructure and complaining about its cost..ffs

Don’t hobble Victoria with complaints about taxes, debt and deficit
Big business never tires of saying taxes are bad, yet those same companies thrive on the very services taxes pay for.

While everyone’s having fun laughing at the Coalition’s ‘climate policy’ Labor is munching popcorn and enjoying the complete lack of scrutiny of its failed ‘Safeguard Mechanism’.

If only tackling #climate change just required being better than the Coalition…

it is US billionaires who decided to swap out a liveable planet for slop machines.
Chinese and EU emissions were more or less flat in 2025 (Chinese emissions may have actually declined slightly, but its too early to know for sure: www.carbonbrief.org/...).

US emissions increases drove much of the increase in global emissions in 2025.

There were cops present, watching & listening to the nazis as they broke laws around hate speech & inciting hate. Were they instructed not to intervene .... with bats, pepper spray & arrests .... like they do with climate change or anti genocide protesters??
What instructions were they given ??

Just a reminder - even if the LNP had not decided to dump the net zero target, they would still be irrelevant to what the Govt can do.

ABLO: The Coalition are choosing to take Australia backwards by abandoning net zero targets. The *correct* way to take Australia backwards is to keep approving more fossil fuel projects, as any fule kno.

This is a good lesson for Australia. If you can't do anything in a 3 year term, you can't do it in 4, or apparently 5. The problem is not the term length, the problem is the culture and incompetence of the politics of the people who rise to the top in our parties.
