Staunch leftie and deeply dismayed. Embarking on a new path of resistance. I’m a Brand Strategist and Namer. Happily married. Grieving my amazing lost son and fiercely proud of my wonderful daughter. Crafty in every sense of the word.

I think we should call them The Icestapo from now on.

GoDaddy has bombed #SuperBowlAds before, and this year is only slightly better. Their new AI service's premise—'makes you look like you know what you’re doing'—feels more negative than clever. I applaud their Goggins puns but they bury the idea in the ad. NOT $ well-spent!

This is #SuperBowlAds malpractice. What on earth (or in space) made anyone think squishing an alien would sell Totino’s Pizza Rolls? At $7M per spot, this is coo-coo bonkers. NOT $ well-spent!

The Booking.com spot with Muppets was perfection—and not just because it had Muppets! Each character reinforced that this is the right way to book all kinds of hotels for all kinds of people. A brand-builder extraordinaire! $ well-spent! #SuperBowlAds

Stella Artois’ spot was high entertainment but low brand-building. A contrived Matt Damon–David Beckham storyline was concocted to say Stella drinkers have great taste. Cute, but where’s the brand emphasis? Will anyone remember the beer? Doubt it. #SuperBowlAds $ not well-spent!

Last year’s #SuperBowlAds spot from Poppi made a big impression on my friends. This year’s is even stronger—leveraging the insight that people love soda but don’t feel good about it anymore. It explains, reassures, and builds the brand. $ VERY well-spent! Thoughts?

Bud Light’s Cul-De-Sac spot nails an easy, breezy vibe. Post Malone feels like a regular guy, not an untouchable celeb (while Manning stands out awkwardly). Bud Light plays the ultimate social lubricant, bringing everyone together for a fantasy neighborhood party. $ well-spent! #SuperBowlAds

I will NOT be commenting on the Tubi Fleshy Cowboy Hat ad. I will NOT. #SuperBowlAds

The Häagen-Dazs 'Not So Fast' ad is quite charming. Great cameos and pop culture nods, but the brand takes a backseat to the stars. Fun, but stronger branding would’ve made it a better investment. Still, a solid brand-builder. #SuperBowlAds

The Nerds Gummy Clusters ad is a winner! Love that it’s set in New Orleans, the game’s venue, and that it introduces the new line extension in a bold, visual—if slightly creepy—way. #SuperBowlAds $ well-spent!

The 'Hey, Meta' ad didn’t really gel for me. All concept, lots of cute Chris/Kris cameos—but I didn’t even get that joke at the time. And was there any brand-building beyond repeating 'Hey, Meta' over and over? Hey, Meta, was it just me? #SuperBowlAds NOT $ well-spent!

Reese’s 'Don’t Eat Lava' ad was a masterclass in launching a line extension with #SuperBowlAds. It looked delicious, used zany humor to reinforce product details, and made sure we’ll remember both the brand and the product tomorrow. $ well-spent!

I was intrigued by the ChatGPT spot using black dots. I guess it was trying to show how expansive Chat is, but as it unfurled it ran too long to hold my attention. NOT $ well-spent. #SuperBowlAds

The "your attention please" ad from Novartis about paying attention to breasts to detect breast cancer was utterly awesome. Too few brands plug into how many women are watching this game. I don't know if it was intentional to run it directly after the Nike women athletes ad, but WOW! $ well-spent!
February 10, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Nike's "You can't win. So win." ad was amazing and inspiring. Nike has a spotty history with the women athletes it works with but I can forgive them if this is how they're going to step up and clean up their act. Ads shape the culture, and brand like Nike have historic influence. #SuperBowlAds

Pringles ran a quintessential #SuperBowlAds spot—celebrity cameos, zany humor, pure entertainment. I wish it reinforced craveability more than mustaches, but with such an iconic logo and high awareness, I guess it’s still $ fairly well-spent!

That Hellman’s 'I’ll Have What She’s Having' spot is adgasmic! The night’s best pop culture reference, though a bit bleak seeing aging stars. Still, a strong brand-builder—Hellman’s on a sandwich makes the earth move. $ well-spent! #SuperBowlAds
February 10, 2025 at 1:03 AM
The Ram Goldilocks ad with Glen Powell was adorable. My favorite celebrity cameos in #SuperBowlAds are when they're self-deprecating and really silly. And the brand's toughness was definitely reinforced. Good brand-building AND entertainment means $ well-spent!

Coffee Mate’s Cold Foam ad with the dancing tongues seemed to TRY for taste appeal—but did it succeed? I like weird, but this felt... off. What do you think? Did it lack all taste (buds)? Was it $ well-spent? #SuperBowlAds
February 10, 2025 at 12:52 AM
I love it when small brands debut #SuperBowlAds, but Hexclad’s entertaining spot makes rookie mistakes. It's got nice celebrity cameos, fancy sets, and charming nods to "Men In Black" —yet the whole thing feels overblown and the brand message gets lost. Not $ well-spent!

Hey, whoa! That "he gets us" Jesus ad with Johnny Cash singing was really powerful and quite poignant for this time. I was so surprised to see them in the #SuperBowlAds again this year. It seems strange to say it, but it was $ well-spent.
