Having shitty, corrupt, thuggish cops is expensive.

Not for the cops I mean. But for the taxpayers.

Since corrupt cop "union" officials are in the news, here's a reminder that LAPPL chief financial officer RALPH CAMPOS steered $450,000 worth of League contracts to GREEN KNIGHT SECURITY, a company he owns together with criminal ex-cop STEPHEN M. O'NEAL.

Mark Walter, principal owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, serves as CEO of Guggenheim Partners, which holds ~$12 million stake in the GEO Group, a private prison corporation that operates ICE detention centers.

This is why the Dodgers won’t directly condemn the raids destroying immigrant families.
I don’t mind that the owners of the Dodgers are squirming right now.

Because they also own a piece of a growing system of concentration camps that hold folks like me in dark, painful, & deadly environments.

In the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, a TN sheriff had a 61-yr-old man arrested for posting a meme on Facebook, which the sheriff absurdly construed as a threat. It was pretty clearly bullshit but I dug into the case using FB & public records and now it looks even worse. My latest @theintercept.com:
The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme
Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.

Mayor Bass's LAPD brutalized journalists and pro-immigration protesters.

For all her photo opps and podcast interviews, this is what her goons do on the ground.
Los Angeles, CA -

Greetings! I’m here in Westlake, where a group of several dozen are having a pro-immigration rally, and promising to have a (rather long) march. There’s a (almost certainly unrelated) fire a few blocks away.

A few particularly concerning photos re: press rights. They aren’t the best photos of the bunch but:

1- officer batonning photojournalist as his press pass is being displayed
2- photojournalist with a cut on his chin. Blood has run down over his shirt and press pass.
3- blood seeping into hands

“The blood of journalists is quite literally being spilled in our streets. And the companies that employ these journalists are telling them to put a sock in it.”

These sheriffs love to talk about being independent when you demand that they respect civil rights & the Constitution.

But if Trump comes knocking? All of a sudden, they’ve got to comply with the law.
